So here's the deal. I like the idea of a new epically long post, but I don't think that the Rock Gauge is it. A better idea is that I'll post all of my plans every week on this thread. Then you can all call me to go boating, since everyone wants to kayak with Joe. I'm always looking for good people be they Class V or Class V+ boaters. Just kidding - I'm also up for romantic floats down the Ark and the occasional drunken playboating session.
Until May 19 I have every Sat, Sun, Mon, and Tues off to boat.
From May 19 till June 12 I have every day off to boat.

Yo Al! The source is cleaned! We got several river wide logs out and trimmed up some other jazz. Hopefully high flows wont trash it again. Anyway, time for an update.
Bailey Sunday 5/14 8:00 am at the takeout. Bailey veterans only please because I gotta be back early for mothers day.
Mission Accomplished - sketchy one
Escalante monday 5/15. Anyone interested? Would like to go early, but any time will work. Is it even running?
Also, I have the brand new and old Eskimo SALTOs if you are interested in demoing. NOT!

Nice work on cleaning up. DId you check the manky stuff below the hellums put in or just the actual gorges? That manky stuff tends to encroach quickly.
Joel and I only looked between Deforestation and Dead Hiker. I do imagine that there will still be some trimming to be done, but hopefully the large river wide logs will stay out. I would bring a hand saw if you're the first one in there this year. Make sure to post the status if you go. Also we hopefully opened up a new channel where the nearly river wide log jam is in the wide flat spot in the middle of the run in addition to pulling/cutting several riverwide jams. She's creepin up already!
Hey Joe, If Bailey stays above 500 by tuesday I'd love to go. Did it on friday and didn't realize Bailey could be so fun. Four falls was punchy, the notch right after seems to have changed and put me into an eddy I've never known to exist, supermax was pushy(no way for me on the top), and deer creek cleans up good.
Yo Kent, I will be back tomorrow evening. Looking to get out during the week if possible. Is the phone number I have for you from last year still good to go? I would be up for bailey if it stays high and fun. Looks like the weather is really starting to get the rivers going, I would really like to get up to gilman/dowd area for some runs this week too. I'll call you manana.
Okay, so this is kind of selfish I admit it, but maybe I can make up for it with beer or gas money. If any of you guys are doing Bailey some night this week, I'd be psyched. The selfish part is that I don't get off work early enough to set shuttle, so shuttle will have to be set by an earlier crowd and I'd have to drive straight from work to the put-in to make it happen. I don't want to put on later than 5 and I don't want to scout any of the rapids. I will also walk straight around the top of Supermax to get on with the business. No hem-haw-ing here.
Let me know if your interested and can accomodate. Thanks!
Joe....I can paddle on the 18th morning of the 19th , Evening of the 22 and ALL DAY on the 23rd and Morning of 24th Let me know. Willing to let you drive us up to 2 hours away........I'll bring the Growler.
