Glenwood Springs at Thanksgiving?

Hey! We are planning a trip to Glenwood Springs at Thanksgiving time, and I was wondering if I should bring my boat. I'm okay with the cold, but will the park still be running and what about the local runs?

Thanks.

as you stated, you better be ready for the cold. theres always a chance it will be 60 degrees and nice, but theres also always a chance it will be 15 and snowing. god bless colorado.

there is always water in the colorado through there, 365 days of the year. sometimes its a little higher (~1500) and sometimes its a little lower (~1100) but there is always at least a grand in there. that means shoshone through new castle is a go, and if they are releasing water through barrel it could be running too. other than that theres little else running. the roaring fork comes down through there but other than a bony low water cemetary run there isnt much else going on.

the wave should be in at every level. the folks at gck would have good beta on the freestyle options at that level, im not a playboater so i couldnt say

Park should still be in. My notes from 2k cfs this March were: steep hole river left, wave with a pile for spins river right. The feature has probably changed significantly due to high flows this spring, but there's bound to be something there. Shoshone class III upstream will be in. Either will be cold, bring the cold weather paddling gear, including skull cap and pogies/gloves.

I have ran shoshone a few times on new years day, good to go.
Hit up snowmass or sunlight if there is snow.

thanks

Thanks for the information, guys. Just what I needed to know. I'm planning on having the best Thanksgiving ever- no family, no turkey, just me and the river. It's the best thing to be thankful for!

It is indeed, my folks live up the hill from the park and my girlfriend and I will be in town paddling/skiing for the holiday so maybe we will bump into you.

Sunlight is cheap and great IF there is snow. They don't have any snowmaking capabilities so if the winter is off to a slow start snowmass or highlands will be the way to go for skiing.
