Futaleufu River

Was looking at doing some paddling in South America this winter. Anyone been down to Chile? I found this company:

Kayaking Chile Kayak Futaleufu Whitewater Trips in Patagonia

Was wondering how the paddling is on the Futaleufu (pics look make it look great) and if anyone has any reviews of this specific company.

I was down there a couple of decades ago and Chris ran a great show. The Fu is and outstanding river go for it. There are also a lot of other rivers in Chile. A think of Chile as Ca turned upside down and shoved a few thousand miles south.

Depends on the season you're going down there. Still very cold and high in Futa in November/December. From what I heard, better by Jan/Feb. Not sure about ExChile. Seemed very expensive relative to other options. I'd suggest just showing up in town and figuring it out from there. Chile es muy facil.

If you go to Chile in Nov/Dec, Pucon is pretty tits. Big water on the Upper Trancura and endless super-mega-clean waterfalls. Find Rodrigo of Kayak Pucon...couldn't imagine a nicer or more thoughtful guide/gear rental/etc.

Less nice things to say about kayak hostel. Latitude 39 is an expat burger joint in Pucon that can get you squared away with the boating scene. Still pretty decent skiing on Volcon Villarica in early December when we were there. Thermas Geometricas also a must-visit. Jeez, just thinking about it maybe I'll need to make another trip.
