fruita put in for Ruby?

I've heard you can put in at Fruita, and camping is available, is this correct ? Our group had cars broken in to at Loma last time. Thanks for any info.

4 miles

It only adds four miles to the float. Just get an earlier start and you should be fine. Yes there is camping. Enjoy....

All that is true, we put in there last year and probably would not do it again. It does not add anything to the beauty of the trip; you are floating next to I-70 until Loma. If you have had problems at Loma that might be a good reason to add a few boring miles to the trip. Good luck and have fun.

We put in at Fruita— weird steep little ramp with not much room to rig. Big parking lot nearby and no problems with break-ins. The float to Loma is a snooze.

But when we got back, the park-geeks at the checkpoint demanded more money (on top of the fees for launching and parking a car) to simply drive in and pick the car up. So I dropped my friend off and he walked in.

That is, your car will be safe, but be prepared to deal with blockheads.

Rent a groover from Rimrock and use their put in for free.

Or skip it and put in at Loma and take your chances with the thievery lottery - there haven't been any break-ins this year and the float from Fruita to Loma is not interesting.
