Free camping north of Moab?

Next Tuesday eve I am headed to Moab to go skydiving for my bday. Our jump is first thing Wednesday morning, 7:00 am. Are there any free camping spots near the airport within 5 miles or so? Basically I'm looking for someplace free to crash in my truck Tues night and am headed back to GWS right after the jump.

Google Bartlett Wash. It's a slickrock area just southwest of the airport with primitive (ie, free) camping right at the trailhead.

It's a bit further away, but there's a sliver of BLM land between Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse State Park.

You'll need a good map for this one. Pretty much nothing out there but some grazing land and a SPECTACULAR overlook - don't drive the road at night - it ends at this 800' drop off and you can do a Thelma and Louise before you know it!

You can check on official rules for camping out there - but I have never seen anything resembling a ranger in this out of the way place.

I often camp up in the Monitor and Merrimac area. If you have a truck, you can get a little way off the easy roads and find a nice campsite. Have your own toilet system and bring your own firewood though. You can look down on the airport from some of the spots I have camped at. They are bandit campsites, so beware.
