Hey everyone so I'm heading down to Florida in a couple of weeks for a family vacation and I'm not too familiar with the area so I was wondering if there is any good whitewater down there? I'm doubtful but I thought I would just check thanks!!

I've never heard of whitewater in Florida....too flat.

The highest spot in Florida is around 330' above sea level...There are trees in my neck of the woods taller than that. But don't give up hope, depending on where you're going it's easy to substitute the ocean for a river. The normally smallish crumbling waves of Florida make for a perfect intro to ocean surfing. The Atlantic side is generally better than the gulf.

heard a story about a 10 foot park and huck up in north florida. saw a you tube of it once, but could not find the link. think it was a drainage of the Suwanee at flood.
maybe check out the surf zone on boater talk. a few of those guys live in FL.

The Florida River may have some potential with a warmup, but not the state of Florida.

Sounds like a good time to get in a touring kayak and check out the bays and estuaries. It'll be a different type of experience but kayaking all the same.

Have fun,

I am in Florida (gulf coast) right now with my family and having a great time, Stand Up Paddling and fishing...but don't come here for whitewater, this State didn't even drain water on its own until people came along and built canals. Great sea kayaking and SUP touring opportunities. I caught a Snook off a stand up board today with my fly rod...its a great place to visit, as Andy said just come looking for a different sort of paddling experience.

Florida is pretty big, like 379 miles from Jacksonville to Miami. That falls is by Chipley near Georgia and the panhandle. The highest point in south Florida was the landfill on Powerline Road .Surfers from Tampa /St. Pete used to get excited when the surf was up around Daytona ,on the other side of the state. The waves are better on the Atlantic but still usually mediocre to lame.Aside from sea kayaking, there is some interesting flat water paddling at the southwestern side of Everglades [ 10'000 Islands] and the Crystal River north of TBay.
