Escalante (the creek) TR 5/9-10
I ran the upper stretch with three others on Monday. The weather was raining but cleared. The fin rock was nowhere to be found so we didn't go in the inner gorge. For a better sense of the level, when you looked upstream at Waterslide, you couldn't see any rocks. There was a roostertail off the sieve rock on the left, but you couldn't see it. The level was great and super fun, and the rain produced a little new snow up high as well (to add to the snow that's still up there). No wood issues.
I got a text from one of our Monday crew who ran it yesterday. He said the water was down about 3 inches, the fin was still covered and the inner gorge was great. Looks like it might run quite a while, but warm temps are on the way so it could be HUGE this weekend. After today, 70's during the day and 40's at night. Be careful out there.
