Different Clear Creek Runs

Which one do you guys like best on CC that is a CL III/IV trip? I've done Lawson - Subway (Idaho Springs) Kermit's - Green Bay Rock (Gone as far as the last eddie before Black Rock) Below Rigor - Golden. Just wondering which one is the best to train on.

I don't know which one is best to train on, but Lawson is my favorite of the three by far.

They all have their strong points :Lawson -Dumont has the most rapids and is the longest

Lower is the closest and has the longest rapid (Screaming 1/4 Mile) plus the playpark at the takeout, plus easy to find folks to run it with

'upper ' has a somewhat more creeky character and the Double Knife thru the Terminator Hole (s) is probably my favorite stretch on Clear Creek...Unlike most of CC you could lap this part, as it tucks behind the tunnel hill and gets away from the road briefly .There is a trail and it has one of best rapids and two good sized holes linked by fun boogie water ( also the premier safety meeting spot on the front range, the throne) ...the drawback is that it is short, but running down to Black Rock solves that., mostly. II (someone said Trout Unlimited built some playspots through there? ) but picks up at the beginning of Black Rock...

You could go all the way from Extra Pussy (apx 1/2 mile above Lawson hole) to 119 or Black Rock

A few years ago, Jason dropped us off at Lawson for our first time down. He told us of "extra pussy" I laughed all the way to 119, for some reason I found it so funny.

That was a fun rapid in the 600's, we went back at 400 later and dubbed it "extra scratches"

awesome section

High flow upper is awesome!!!
Lawson is great but shuttle can suck if weekend traffic is bad.
Lower is fun at the mid to lower class IV.... At higher flows it's great too.

My vote for higher flows is to lap upper. No traffic and so fun.

For class III-IV I think Lawson or upper. Lawson is awesome, but the upper is by far more scenic and less roadside. in terms of the best run on the creek though: it's black rock for sure, and (with the exception of Rigo) it's not class V except at high water.
