On Deso you have the new rapid to talk about called Joe Hatch, there is plenty of discussion about it on this forum. Also Coal Creek will give you problems. But Deso is a great trip for those boats.
Nope, no oars, just a kayak paddle. I sit a little front of center and when the boat is empty it's surprisingly easy to maneuver. When its loaded down with camping gear, its more sluggish. I'd take it down westwater if the flows were at one of the more reasonable levels, but I don't think I'd want to do it with a 6 day camping rig. I wasn't sure with the oar setup that the oar locks would be far enough apart to add much mechanical advantage.
I guess I could go float Labyrinth Canyon and leave Deso for a time when I have some company. The shuttle is half the price, its a few hours less driving, and no permit process to worry about. I've never done anything on the Green River before, so it's all new to me.
