Who wants to join us for Deckers Saturday morning? Want to leave around 10.

My husband is always going down to Deckers to flyfish and wants me to join him. I'm reluctant because I like the solitude of paddling alone (without him) but would love to do a run I've never done before. Can you suggest PI/TO spots and describe the worst thing you'll encounter down there (or tell me where I could find this info for myself). I work every saturday so I'm bummed I can't join you. Thanks lots.

The Deckers run is mostly 2+/-3 due to the amount of maneuvring around all the rocks in the river with no huge major rapids, the only big slide/drop is the Chutes and its a 3+/4 depending on the flow but it has a nice pool at the bottom kind of like Union Chutes does, you can tell the Chutes by the big NO TRESSPASSING signs everywhere to keep swimmers and tubers out.
There are lots of PI/TO choices all up and down the road, my favorite place is the 2 miles upstream of the Chutes.

There is a section that flows thru a fishing camp that has barbwire across the river even though its legal to float thru most people start their runs below it to avoid any hassles.

My advice is the next time your out there while he is flyfishing take the car and road scout from Deckers town down to the confluence of the North Fork and the S. platte where the Waterton Canyon run starts, you'll find something fun to run!!!

We are meeting at the parking area at the Colorado Trail footbridge at 11 am. Will run the Class II section above the Chutes. If anyone wants to join us, meet us at the parking area.
