Deckers on Sunday 6/8

I'm a beginner and going to Deckers on Sunday 6/8 morning. I have somebody who will run shuttle for me. The flow is 160 CFS.

Eddyflow shows that as "Low", but not "Too Low".

We will be coming from Woodland Park and I can carry two others + their boat/gear if you want to carpool from the Wendy's in Woodland Park.

Having spent a ton of time in the NF and SF canyon there, 160 is really, really low given the flows elsewhere in the State. 160 is a good flow for fishing though, so bring your fly rod!

If your heart is completely set on visiting that beautiful canyon, the short (2 mile?) stretch between the Foxton Takeout and the top of Waterton Canyon is generally Class II, pretty and has plenty of water in it. You could also float the inbetween of Foxton below the Boulder Garden down to Foxton Road, two miles of class II with a class III finale!

Guess I'm just trying to save some plastic off the bottom of your boat.

Edit: Keep an eye on gages, Deckers gets Cheeseman releases, so it could jump up to a reasonable level by the weekend (300 cfs IMHO).

Dan-O is right. 160 is nothing but rocks. Wait till it's 300 and you'll like it better.

The water board is holding back water in Chessemen right now as the NF is flowing so high leaving the Platte below chessemen not very fun. I am also a beginner and I live in Deckers so if the flow does go up in the near future I would be up for a run at a moments notice.

You may also want to post up and join up on the coloradokayakers.com site.

Its a good place for new boaters to meet other new boaters.

Hi, What is the Foxton takeout? I checked out the boulder garden last weekend but didn't drive past the sign that says "Foxton" next to what looks like an abandoned house.

Thanks!
Annie
