Cross Mtn below 200, going to see/video it low
Would like to hike/duckie/tube through cross mountain gorge within the next couple of weekds since we missed it last year as the water went up again quickly in the fall. Anyone up for that? Would like to see the canyon as dry as possible in order to better understand all the hydraulics that get created.
Additionally, rumor has it that the 303 folks are planning to dam the Yampa up high and divert to the frontrange, which would make the fantastic differences in flow no longer available. If that truly comes to pass, which is likely, how cool would it be to check it out long before the highwater goes away for good. (... fill a different void, Floyd!, so we don't have to dream of another Dominy Falls running at a million cfs)
Anyone interested in going there? Larry, who lives *right* there at the takeout/putin at Dearlodge Park says fishing is great for pike in there rumored to be HUGE. Bob is thinking about going because of the fishing. Darren is thinking about going too, so that is 3 of us if we all go at the same time.
I'm planning on taking a video and stillcamera to get as much footage as possible... and of course will be doing those shots again at high water. Should make for some good stock footage for vids.
Sunday, Monday or Tuesday maybe?
