Gore Canyon is your ticket.
You can park that big, ugly RV at Pumphouse, which is the takeout for Gore and also the put-in for a mild float for the family. There is lots of camping at Pumphouse.
Gore is not far from RMNP. It will be running in August, guaranteed. It is mostly 4-plus with a couple of great class V's - scoutable and portagable.
I don't know, but I imagine there's a place to rent in Silverthorne, 40 minutes south of Gore. If not, somewhere on or just off I70...

JIM!!!! You better call me when you come out this way. We definitely need to go do some kayaking. How have you been? Married now? Give me a call and we can catch up. I have a bunch of extra gear you could use.

Jim, the stuff below Gore is super family friendly, especially if they are impressed with trains. you could rent a raft from Rancho del Rio, right in the same hood. They probably have creek boats to rent too, but not sure.
