Tunnel #1 down to the play park is the class II-III section of Clear Creek. It is a good beginner run as long as you put in on the downstream side of Tunnel #1. If you put in upstream of Tunnel #1 then there is some stuff that will trip up a beginner. It is one mile long.
The only real hazard on this section is the big overhanging cottonwood tree that is just downstream in the right hand channel where the creek splits about 1/3 mile below the tunnel. You take the right channel because the left channel goes into a canal that is not runnable. The overhanging cottonwood tree is easy enough to avoid but it takes some boat handling skill. At some flow levels that tree is a death trap waiting for an inner-tuber to float by.
Okay, that makes more sense, I just looked at the Lower Clear Creek link from the other post, and it said it was all class IV and V stuff. I just started kayaking in mid spring so, this sounds like a good fun beginner run then.
