The chutes are 3 miles up from the confluence of the North and South Forks of the S. Platte. Take out at the Colo. Trail foot bridge to avoid a flat paddle out if you want to or take out at the Waterton put in.
You can put in as high above the chutes as you want so 11 miles above or so. We usually put in a couple miles up for a warm up.
The entire run is roadside, you can park and play the second chute. The wave is HUGE, ran it Saturday and watched the others get tossed at the river left wall when flushed out of the hole.
The chutes are really pushy at this level, highsided my ducky in the alcove but did not swim. We did have one swimmer at the first chute and one at the third. Oh yeah, and one swimmer while playing in the second chute.
The water is fast and totally fun at this level.
