Chile Boaters

A friend and I are going down to Chile this winter for 5 months, money permitting. I have read that it is easier to buy a car then rent, and that would put a substantial dent in our bank accounts.

So, if anyone is heading down to Chile this winter and is in a similar situation and would like to split the cost of a car and have two boaters to paddle with for the trip, let me know.

Chile this November

Hi, would like to go to Chile this November to boat. I am like you, money permitting and I can't afford to rent or buy and sell a car by myself. I am looking at 2-4 weeks, and have particular interest in creeking around Pucon. I am a Wildland Firefighter, so how long I go for is dependent somewhat on what I pull in the rest of the's not been that lucrative of a year so far.

I would be happy to split expenses amongst a group, and I do plan on bringing my nomad and then selling it at the end. My Spanish is not amazing, but I know enough to have gotten around Costa Rica and Ecuador by myself for boating trips in the past. I have been boating 13 years and I am pretty competent in class IV and sometimes run class V, but appreciate the option to portage them if I choose. What months are you planning on being there? do you plan to buy a car or rent one, and do you have an idea of the daily costs of the car? I can also help research this. I will know more with my job and how much money I have to work with in the next few weeks. Let me know what ya think! Thanks.
happy paddlin' Joni

I too am interested in a communal car. I'm not sure I can swing the entire 5 months, but keep me in the loop. It's probably gonna be pretty soon.
