central CA early May class2/3 options??

So I'm going to be taking my first road trip to California the last week of April to go to a wedding in Santa Cruz. Gonna be there till the middle of May.
I'll have a bit of free time so I'm planning on bringing a ducky with me.
I'm gonna be boating by myself so I'm looking for some nearby rivers with some class 2 or 3 stretches. Day runs, preferably with easy access.
I'm thinking the upper end of the Merced, though it looks more like a float trip.
Possibly the Stanislaus, though I'm not too sure it has much for easier stretches.
Is there anything in that range on the Kings??
Anyone got any other possible rivers in mind??
Thanks in advance. Any and all info is greatly appreciated!!

All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.
