Central America backpack paddle trip

I am planning a solo backpack trip through Central America this summer and i'm looking for advice from those of you that have paddled south of the border. I plan on finding boats along the way and bringing the essentials(pfd, helmet, breakdown, skirt, throwbag), but i'm wondering what other gear would be advantageous to have on hand. I'm trying to pack light, but id rather be prepared than up a creek . I'm also looking for travel insurance to cover things like emergency evac and stolen gear if anybody has any suggestoins. this trip has no itinerary so feel free to make suggestions!

Talk to Jim, a former Colorado boy that runs this place. He can set you up in Panama with boats.
