If you are in the Hobacks then you know generally what the weather has been lately. Snow on the ground in Stanley on Saturday and Sunday morning - at least a couple of inches. and no real melting up high during the day, and I am looking at the Banner gauge still sitting at four feet of snow.....makes me start to be a tiny, itsy bitsy nervous that we won't be able to drive in on June 14th. Mild freezing up high overnight but I think the snow has gone pretty much isothermic and can melt very quickly once it warms which it is supposed to this week....but I trust none of them. Starting my back up plan right now.
I do know that the USFS will not have the road closure signs up this year ( and 10K penalties and confiscation of equipment threat that they had last year). That was the Boise forest trying to get in to work on culverts in Bruce Meadows and Bear Valley before the camping season. Nothing the MF rangers did to 'protect' the road as I suspected earlier.
That's all I have. When do you launch?
