Bob Marshell Wilderness, Montana, Flathead, self support?

We are hiking into the Bob for a self-support IK trip at the end of July and have 1 opening. It's a bit costly, but a trip of a lifetime. Fishing is world class. This is for the true adventurer who can IK for 6 days and eat fish, grouse, oatmeal, whiskey, and ...?etc. We are hiking 23 miles to the put-in and kayaking for 6 days with side hikes. Wranglers are packing in the heavy equipment.

Rick, thanks for the call. We'll paddle or row on the Poudre after work with dinner and beers to follow next week. Hopefully all will work out. It will be a trip never to be forgotten.

I am planning to head up that way around July 20 and I was wondering which company or wrangler you had hauling your gear. Do they haul it to Glacier creek or Shaffer Meadow?
thanks

You can fly in from Kalispell relatively cheaply if you're light enough, though we were heavy with rafts & cats. The flight in is incredible, barely skimming over the peaks and looking at high mountain lakes and snow. The guy who flew us in (I can't remember the company - it was ~10 years ago) also tracked grizzly bears with his plane, and that was fun as well. The strip is huge, though sometimes they have to buzz the moose out of it before they can land. The Middle Fork of the Flathead is an incredibly beautiful river, can't wait to do it again.

Hey I cannot do the trip, but do you have any room for a passenger up to Montana and back from Fort Collins. I can chip in on gas, and just want a ride up and back whenever you guys are going. Thanks.

It sounds as if Eric is planning on hitting the South Fork of the Flathead...the Mid Fork is in the Great Bear Wilderness not the Bob.

Eric, if you are running the south fork are you going to do the full run through the Meadow Creek Gorge? Are you hiking in from the west (seeley-swan) or from the south? Either way this sounds like a super sweet trip....

SF Flathead through the Bob. Several people have mistaken the MF for the SF. The SF must be hiked. The MF can be flown to. We are doing the whole thing and going to paddle (hopefully) through the gorge at the end which is generally unrunnable.

I will be staying in Bozeman several times on the way through. I have a backpacking trip in the Mission Mt Wilderness 4 days later so plan to hang in Bozeman for a few days while catching some hogs on the Wooley Bugger.

If you want to show me around, let me know. I'll be fishing the Gally and drinking beer at Stacey's outside Four Corners.
