Any OC-1er's in the Roaring Fork Valley?

I just picked up an older Encore. I've done some flatwater work and ran Pink to Black on Sunday, had a great time. Totally new to this, trying to self teach. I could definitely use some pointers if anyone is interested in getting out. Also, is it just a fact of life that your lower legs and feet will go numb as a result of kneeling for so long? Whether my feet are braced on the foot blocks or extended behind, i've got about 25 minutes before it becomes seriously uncomfortable. Thanks for the feedback.

I don't know of any OCers in RF valley but there probably are a few. I remember a few years back a couple of guys from aspen showed up on the numbers and styled it in an OC-2 - can't remember their names though.

As far as the feet/legs go - yes it pretty much a fact of life for canoeist. There are various thing you can try to help with this:

- make your saddle higher -- at the expense of stability, but the encore is a huge boat so you should be able to get away with a 9-10 in. saddle if you want (most use a 6-8 in. saddle)

- install ankle blocks - you will probably have to experiment with different placement and sizes to get this right

- make your saddle wider - I don't know why it is but wider saddles seem to help with the whole feet going asleep issue

- boat more - the more you boat, the more your body will adjust to the kneeling position

25 minutes isn't acutally all that bad - I remember when I first started to OC, I could only go for 10 minutes or so.
