What is the earliest age you recommend getting your kid into boating?

Our clinic is for kids 8-18 years of age. We spend two days at the Boulder Reservoir and three days on a local river. The clinic will be held from 9am-4pm Monday-Friday and we will provide lunch.

I put mine in a boat at 4 on the Poudre unfortunately in those days the smallest boat we had available was the dancer so it never was more than surfing around the eddy. I always dreamed of them challenging me on the river but it hasn't happened yet and my youngest is 17. So get them out often. I just recently saw kids kayaks in rocky mountain outdoor center (laporte) and a 6 or 7 year old on the large side could handle these beautiful machines no problem.
