Just FYI, Chip & I were referring to different products. The pack I've used is the NRS Sherpa - I'd recommend that for carrying a kayak.

the rigging is the key as storm said. i tried one on waterton and it kicked my ass cause i didnt take the time to set it up properly. also get the darn thing high enough that it doesnt smack you in the back of the heels, hurts like hell after a while but everybody probably already knows that cept for me. make sure its tight so it doesnt sway around.
