The Popo Agie (sp) is a great one to hit outside of Lander on the far side of the windrivers. The New Fork is on the way to Jackson, a beautiful run/adventure with a LONG hike in. Both quality runs but try to hook up with some Jackson crews for important info. Aaron and the guys at Rendevouz River Sports might be your best bet for that info. I really enjoyed the runs. You might also consider the Eastern Idaho creeks on the other side of the tetons for some easier shuttle runs.

we've gotten on the middle popo several times this year. as of last weekend it's still pretty high, but way fun. the put-in rapids were too blown out for our crew to consider. we put in just below the corner rapid & just above the lead-in to the little waterfall. it's totally continuous, juicy & blind boulder rapids for the entirety of the run once you put in, with one of the longest hardest drops sneaking up on you towards the end. scout carefully and know where to portage & what channels to avoid.

couple things about the winds: (1.) anything you do is going to involve a hike in. with mosquitoes & biting flies. (2.) don't fuck around in the Rez. yeah, there's stuff up there, but the BIA is not stoked on boaters & you don't want to end up in their court/prison system. (3.) don't go through lander without stopping at the gannett grill for a burger. i'd suggest the "gut bomb" variety.

JJH !! what up amigo? gimme a call ....

Whoops! Retraction: not *everything* involves a hike. For instance, you could do Warm Springs Cr up near Dubois on the way to Togwotee & run a semi-normal shuttle. It's outside of the rez & still in the Winds. It's got a couple cool cave features, but the rest of the creek is not that rad.
