Willow Creek trip report

two of us ran it today at about 250 cfs. both of the main rapids (scree and whoopy) are good to go, but there are still downed trees in the in-between water (i think we portaged 3 or 4 times, and ran over top of a few smaller logs). eddies are relatively small and scattered on this run so i'd give it a solid IV+ rating. it's a bit stressful watching out for the riverwide strainers and portaging is frustrating due to the post-holeing in the snow. there's also a barbed wire fence at the take-out, which is readily seen from the bridge. to sum it up, it's an adventure and probably worthwhile because of whoopy (i'm not sure where the actual start of this rapid is, but it's a long one - when you go past a fan rock in the center of the river, you're still a few hundred yards from the crux and the "tunnel"). there's no portages required below whoopy, but only because the log can be sneaked (we went right, left might work too).

anyways have fun.

Thanks Bryan, if I ever get some free time I might head north and hit it myself.
