Willow Creek Access Update

After a small altercation today with the land owner at the intersection of Willow Creek and the Elk River on Routt County Road 64 the Cobra Squad went to the Routt County Sheriffs Office and spoke on the issue. Dave Moss the land owner has intentionally built a fence across Willow Creek for nonexistent cattle. This fence crosses the creek blocking passage to the Elk River and forces kayakers to portage & trespass on his property. The sheriffs department said they will not site people for getting out of their boats to get around his fence. Basically folks we can portage just don't hang out on his property. If he confronts you the sheriffs are on our side. Please be respectful, this is still a sensitive issue for Mr. Moss.

Its goin, go get some.

how was the level - clear of ice? what about wood? Dave is sketchy but if you talk to him and play nice he'll be alright - thanks for the heads up on the fence - I don't think he realizes he is going to hurt someone and end up hurting himself more?

Did the take out access for the Elk ever get solved? Two years ago I took out at the bridge just up from Glen Eden, and got a nasty note left on my car.

Routt County seems to be one of the much more uptight areas concerning river access. Sheesh!
