Whitewater here in Illinois?

http://coloradokayak.blogspot.com/20...ter-where.html

This is a little intro to team CKS member Brock Royer and whitewater paddle in the Great Lakes area. You can see more of Brock, Great Lakes whitewater and CKS gear being used to the extreme on the lastest issue of LVM #21.

Near Starved Rock state park, correct?? I lived out there for 4.5 LOOONG years, heard there was a little white water over there but never made the trip. I let my negativity kill the idea...."I miss Colorado, nothing around here will be worth it"..........guess I should have investigated. Looks like some fun stuff. Wisconsin wasn't too bad, Wolf, Peshtigo, and Menominee (UP).

prison feces

I miss the Vermillion and the effluent floating down from the prison and the field runoff. You think Confluence is gnarly!

Wisconsin is highly underated, though. Anywhere they deep fry vegatables is alright with me and boy do those girls keep you warm , assuming they don't asphyxiate you first.

What about the Saint Francis. Its has some fun easy drops on it, and when the water gets high there are tons of great playspots.

ya from st louis the saint was always a fun run. my opinion above 2 feet over the gauge bridge which happens twice a year, but either way at that level it gets "big water" like stuff and i ran an 8-12 foot waterfall at dam breech. good stuff and yes, with lots of play depending on what level and what rapid

Took my first swim at Wildcat at age five. But y'all are right about the water quality - for many years there was a herd of 30-50K pigs upstream from the put-in. And believe it or not, there is ice climbing in Illinois too, not far from the Vermillion.
