The thing about ocean surfing is your gonna have a clean glassy face (hopefully). With edges you will be able to stay on that face. With a full displacement hull (no edges) you would bounce/slide down into the trough/base of the wave. Edges will give you the control you need to work the face of the wave and pick up speed. Allowing you to stay out in front of the break and have a better session.

They do- and it actually comes in a plastic layup as well as a composite: High performance kayak | riverrunning capabilities | playboat | creekboat | expedition kayak | Element | Nemesis | Flirt | Spice | Solo series | Donsa | Detox kayaks Contact Fluid Kayaks now on Tel: +27 (0)56-817-2951 | Email: marketing@fluidkayaks.c

If I lived anywhere close to a beach I'd have one:

I would opt for the composite boat if I could afford it- the lighter weight makes a much bigger difference for paddling into waves and speed down the line.

BTW- I have an Orbit Fish too. Although I haven't taken it in the surf yet, I think it would be about as good as a traditional WW boat can get in surf conditions; although a bit short for bigger swells. Still fun though.

Nice vid. Flaco,

I'm gonna have to check into one now. It would make trips to the father in laws on the east coast of Florida not so taxing.
