This isn't a river float but you might want to put this on a bucket list.
Sometimes listed as the third clearest lake water in the world its probably just fourth. After Crater Lake, Lake Baikal and Lake Tahoe Waldo Lake has some of the clearest water in the world.
Its in Oregon at over 5,400 elevation east of Eugene.
37,000 acres makes it only about 3% as big as Lake Tahoe.
The water is regarded as essentially distilled.
Slightly acidic like rainwater.
No incoming streams. Just nearby snowmelt and springs feed it.
Its a lot smaller than Lake Tahoe but Waldo Lake is slightly remote and has an irregular western coastline that is great for exploring and would work well for light weight Kayaker camping.
Visit Shadow Bay and Rhododendren Island.
Lots of volcanos to view.
No fishing to speak of.
Nothing growing there for the fish to eat.
It can get windy there in the afternoon.
would be a better summation.
Get up early, move to the next camp, stay tucked away in a western shore camp.
