I have seen a lot of dogs on boats in the Frank Church wilderness. Lots of horses in the area as well.

Did anyone notice that the Brown's Canyon Wilderness Study Area is on the list? An interesting candidate for wilderness....

Dogs are allowed in wilderness but they must be leashed.

no idea what NPS is but in my neck of the woods growing up our wilderness area didn't have any leash laws or no dogs laws. everybody and their mother had dogs on our canoe trips. (BWCAW). Perhaps that's changed?

Chip, ditto that on drilling/truck noise in deso. Any limits on that would be fantastic.

NPS is the National Park Service. Federal wilderness designation allows dogs but they must be leashed. I got an $80 ticket for an off leash dog in the Holy Cross Wilderness, I tend to learn my lessons the expensive way.

That video was automatic smiles.

And on the issue at hand, I have come to understand that all the Wilderness Study Areas in this neck of the woods are only on one side of the river, the south. Restrictions might not be meant to apply to river trips skirting that perimeter.

I should look it up but it will take sooo long and stuff...

The BLM site Westwater Canyon WSA describing the Wilderness Study Area says it is on both sides of the river. In fact, it sounds like more territory will be on river left than on river right.

"This WSA spans the Westwater Canyon portion of the Colorado River with the eastern two-thirds located in the Dolores Triangle. Major tributary canyons on the east side of the river include Little Dolores, Marble, and Star canyons. A short box canyon, Little Hole, and a Rincon, Big Hole, are the main features northwest of the river."
