on a related note, is the consensus still that shouldering your boat for the portage is more workable than bringing a barebones kayak backpack-type setup?

i'd highly recommend a backpack for the big portage and the hike out
towards the end of the big portage it doesn't work so well as there's a lot of bouldering however, it's a good hike till you get there.

i've only done it in a day - but i'd think if your staying overnight then you'd really want a light-weight pack set-up

enjoy

Hey Milo

Don't you wanna go with us? It would be awesome to have a legend such as yourself along on our trip. Is the rock fall really that bad??? I guess there are a ton of great camps downstream as well.
If you have any secret beta on the portage marathon record route that you set let me know.

For sure Milo, having you would make it a true BC experience. We are putting on Monday and getting off Tuesday. Figured we would over night it as a few have not done it. Be great to have you with us.
