River rating system for Iraq is the same, but the shuttle is rated, too. Most are 5+.
Desert Storm boatin, huh? Well, I kind of doubt it. There is probably some boating to be done up north in the Kurdish part of Iraq. I hear it's nice up there, temperate, and there's some topography. Snows even. Maybe that's why the Kurds are so well adjusted. I'm no expert on the conflict in the 90s, but I'm pretty sure we stopped at the Iraqi border (officially). If any US forces went into Iraq it was only a little ways across the border in the southern desert. From Baghdad south to the Gulf it's flat and very dry. Kuwait is basically one big desert. The only topo I see on the map is sand dunes. I would be super suprised if there was anything to paddle except flatwater.
Plus, where the hell would he get a boat, paddle, etc? He sure didn't bring it and there are no outfitters around, not down here anyway.
Unless he was spec ops, then maybe. Those bastards are crazy and pretty much do whatever they want. They might even have a secret kayak hit squad for all I know.
I hope in the future Americans are thought of as a warlike, vicious people, because I bet a lot of high schools would pick "Americans" as their mascot. -Jack Handy
