Table tennis! Ha! What a load of crap. I am sure those ping pong experts shit their pants for those class V serves coming at them. They don't even wear helmets! Ping pong balls of steel!

This obviously isn't geared towards whitewater. In my mind they underscored nerve and analytic ability by a large degree. The also underscored agility and hand eye coordination.

Kayaking at a high level doesn't require you to be in the same aerobic conditioning as a top athlete in some other sports, but the nerve to go big has to beat out just about all of those sports listed. I most sports you can get hurt, but in kayaking you worry about dying. Who's got more nerve, somebody racing stuff like the green narrows, or somebody playing soccer (same nerve score listed)?

To me kayaking is a very fine blend of nerve, analytic ability (reading water and understanding lines), agility (quick reactions, bracing, anticipation, knowing where you are upside down etc), and coordination (fine tuning strokes based on what is happening to you in that instant). It doesn't require you to run a 4 minute mile or lift 500 lbs, but at its high level, its a difficult sport.

In the realm of ping pong do they (ESPN) take in consideration female paddle-less ping pong because that is intense, and at the same time beautiful.

Only on the ocho.

I hope in the future Americans are thought of as a warlike, vicious people, because I bet a lot of high schools would pick "Americans" as their mascot. -Jack Handy
