Westwater TR... Great season finale!

This weekend I did a westwater overnighter. It was my first westwater trip, and the level was about 3200 cfs. The trip was awesome! The camping was great (we had ample raft support), the scenery was breathtaking, and the waves were FUN, and the weather was perfect! Highlights of the trip were running Skull straight down the middle, and surfing big at bowling alley. We camped at little D, but I couldn't get on the wave from the eddy, oh well. We also had a couple of guys along on the trip in a tandem IK who provided carnage comedy for the group. What a perfect way to end the season (sniff, sniff, sorry to see it go...). I can't wait to go back!

Who says the season's over? I've run Westwater long into October, and there are a number of other good/mediocre runs through the fall.

October? Westwater is a year round run - it just gets better as it gets colder (less people and rangers). If the ice bridge forms if Feb it can definitely make for an epic though. The key is to take your recreationals right at skull so that they're in full swing by the time you hit the flat water. Glad to hear you and matt had a good time!

Hey Ian! What a great trip! I hope to hook up with you all again for another adventure. Think of me and my big yellow boat when you score your Selway permit...
