Received some info from a group of Utah boaters:

"just talked to the person who made the prediction of 13k at Westwater. Not only is he standing by the prediction, he said he may raise it. It is
strictly weather related. Must be one of those epic events."

bawood - your trip is in 10 days? By then the water will be back down to avg. flows. Skull isn't bad....can't scout it very easily....Large out-cropping river left at entrance, vertical river right.....start pullin' hard river left as soon as you clear the out-cropping (and STAY left to avoid the room of doom). Hit sock-it-to-me straight...

With regards to the forecast (off the record), there's a nice low that's sitting over the area that's really tapping a tropical air mass (think from Baja to hawaii). Dave, this is much bigger than a monsoon and the potential exists for a really widespread heavy precipitation -- definately something to bring the mainstem up these levels. There's only one parameter off -- huge amounts of forecasted rainfall. It's already started to develop over the southern portion of utah and we'lll see how long this stuff sticks aroud for and which drianages get the brunt of it. Either way it's going to be a really exciting couple of days -- and maybe not the best flows to cut your teeth on westwater. As the weekend nears, if you guys have specific questions about the forecast feel free to call the office 801-524-5130. I am here 'till 11:00 PM tonight and tomorrow evening. We'll be staffed continuously until this stuff moves out of te area.

Thanks Merry. I'm still in doubt of anything into 5 digit flows. I'm just stoked to be headed into the canyon. I'd prefer lower flows with better surf, but
I'll happily take some higher flows.
