Anyone know the current ice state in Westwater canyon? We were looking to do a New Years-ish trip and were curious if anyone had seen it lately. Thanks!

I've heard it said that if there's ice in Debeque Canyon, there's likely ice on Westwater also.

We just cancelled our trip last weekend(the 22nd). There was signifigant ice in the river at moab, not solid but flow ice. The report was another couple of degrees and it would go solid. It dropped 20 degrees and cancelled our trip. No visual, but we came to the conclusion it would most likely be solid.

We were thinking of doing a New Years Westwater too but we spoke to a ranger out there and he said there was some considerable ice, as of a few days ago.

Right now it is -7 here at my house in BV... Last time I looked at the ark in town it was a ice flow. It has not been above 32 for over a week or two! We got another foot or so in the past day. The snow is great get out and use the frozen form of H2o!

You would be riskin your life if you ran the numbers today.. I bet anyone with any normal gear on would die..

turns out we got similar reports from people down in that area... looks like UT boating is out for a while... any other boating suggestions? (don't worry RDNek, we've been skiing every day so far)
