Of course we are gearing up for a banner year here in Minnesota and Michigans UP! Rivers are still frozen and we are getting another dump over the next week.
If you're not familiar with the area there are dozens of steep creeks spaced about 10 to 15 miles apart all up the north shore of superior. (Pretending Canada doesn't exist). 3 to 8 miles in length with great access. Absent freak rain drops, spring is the only time things run. All class IV and V creeking. Leave your playboats
You might check out a few on AW to get a feel.
Lester (downriver race next weekend 13th! - www.facebook.com/LesterRiverRace
Dozen more in Canada.
Generally similar to crested butte style boating. LOTS of clean falls
I wouldn't arrive before next weekend, but things should be cranked for quite a while. Given how late we are running thus year - Maybe even paddle in 60 degree weather to boot. Drysuit and mitts mandatory. Monitor the 'greater MN/WI whitewater planner' on FB to get a feel for what's going and hook up with other paddlers.
