West Fork Dolores?

Running Stoner stampede on Sat and looking for another class 3 run for Sun. Does anyone have any beta on the west fork of dolores above stoner, or any other suggestions in the area?

W Fk is a great road bike ride, not much traffic, good shoulders. I haven't paddled it tho. From the road it looks pretty mild except for wood and fences. The Ledges run on the San Miguel is fun class three w/ good play at, u guessed it, Ledges, which you might be able to do from the bottom. Haven't been over there in a while. Dgo town run is good class III but you know that. E fk and lower W fk of the San Juan are great fun eddy hopping, but more III+. Again, watch for wood and there are great little drops in there. Don't know how far the road up efsj is open due to the slide but don't go above Sand Ck as there is a bigger rapid up there.

Oh yea, there are supposed to be more runs up towards Rico on the main Dol but stampede is proly the most exciting. Could do laps. I have only run from Bear Ck down.

Btw, when are you doing Stampede? Might be able to make it over. Have fun, Leroy.

Hey John, can't do the Samp sun, good level tho. Surfing D town at the most for me. Looks like the Ledges of the sm is too low, I don't really know the min. Cheers, L.

The Wesk Fork Dolores comes into the main Dolores below Stampede. I was up there yesterday. There is a lot of private property (FS access at the Johnny Bull trailhead) and some of it has low hanging barb wire with no trespassing signs across the river. Usually there is wood, though I didn't see any yesterday (though I didn't scout the entire West Fork!). Looks like fun though.
