West Fork Clear Creek - Anyone run it this year

Hey, plan to hit the West Fork this weekend...haven't run it since last year. Any info on wood, abstructions, river changes, etc would be appreciated (especially about log on Gunshot Rapid)

Paddled West Fork last night..... Upper 10-12 ft. waterfall is MUCH more sticky than it appears. One person in our group got stuffed and side surfed for about 30 seconds before getting out. Hit this with speed and try to take a solid left hand boof stroke going off the top. Second drop is not difficult but punch or boof with some authority. Third drop RULES!! Boof the underwater rock right above the "big rock" and it ski jumps you to the right into the current. Lean right and brace as you will hit a fin-rock that is hiding just under the water. It will shoot you out from there.

From here the first gorge is clean, FAST and fun....

Did not have time to scout or paddle the second or third gorge. Definately pre-scout these for wood/lines. There are at least 2 tight moves in the second gorge that you must have a pre-game plan for!! This run is a great time.

Be safe, have fun.

James

The right line is really fun, but definately tougher than the left. Just charge into the boof rock and lean to the right to take the blow from the fin rock in the landing. It does have a tendency to throw you into the rock on the left (you can see that in the pics) but not to badly. Anyone scouted the second or third gorges for wood? we only ran the first.
