Warning: Dumont section of Clear Creek

The Lawson put in for Clear Creek has a pull out on the south side of the road. The put in is below the 6 pipes under the road. DO NOT PARK IN THAT SPACE. The local sheriffs will ticket you and have you towed. That may have been were everyone parks, but clear creek county doesn't allow for parking on county roads or pull offs. It’s a 60$ ticket, but they told me that next time they will just have us towed. It sucks because there are not signs posted or anything else and the cop was an ass to the whole thing. I’m writing a letter to the city about the problem, but just watch where you park.

Why do we support the police when they spend their time harassing the boating community, instead of stopping people from stealing our boats?

Josh; direct your concerns to the Clear Creek County sheriff’s office, as they patrol the town of Lawson.

There is signage on the road, it is marked. The homeowners who live up that road have complained about the different user groups (kayakers, rafters, 4X4ers) blocking them from their homes. EMS/Fire Department had an issue getting up to one of the homes in the past because of 4X4 trucks & trailers had the road blocked, hence the new signs were put up last year. They are nice people, I've talked with them, but they don't want the road blocked. If everyone parks either across the river or upstream (where the new whitewater park will be) all problems will be avoided.

I've also talked with the Sheriff, Don Krueger, he said he has received several complaints this season about the boaters speeding, rolling through stop signs and illegal parking. He is a good guy and told me he didn't want to post someone waiting and watching for it and if I could pass the word.

Be safe out there,

John Rice

thanks for the info John. But At that specific area there are no signs within 200 feet on either side of road about parking. But I'll contact them, just for the info.
