You will only need a dynamic rope if you intend to set up your anchor, tie into the rope with some slack between you and said anchor, and then jump off the edge.

Also, tie a knot in the end of your rap line so you don't rappel off the end. Many very experienced climbers have gone this way.

I don't completely agree with this advise. I've tied plenty of knots in the bottom of my rap lines, but there are lots of situations where I wouldn't. In any kind of windy conditions I sure wouldn't, less than vertical terrain I mostly wouldn't, if the ends were going to be in/near the river- heck no. Basically, any time that it might be possible for the end of the rope to be stuck somewhere where it might be tough/impossible to retrieve. Stuck ropes suck a lot, and while knots aren't always the culprit, they are a prime suspect.
