Upper Wave/Hole in Buena Vista gets adjustments.
2011 Update: The upper hole has been adjusted and is now more of a friendly wave. Users are finding it much easier and much more like a wave than a hole. We are excited to see how it turns out this season and will make updates on this page as soon as more reports come in.
This is the original wave/hole that was constructed in 2002. It is located just upstream of the “Whipple” or Midland Trail Bridge at the end of E. Main St. The boat ramp provides easy access to large eddies and is a popular rafting put-in and take-out. It is a great place to start or finish a day on the river and to relax and watch rafters and kayakers go by. This area has great parking, restrooms, changing rooms, pic nick benches, gazebos and much more. You are also at the start of the Whipple Trail system so bring your bike and or hiking shoes. Enjoy.
PS- With today's flow 400 cfs +/- it is working well. We will let you know how adjusting flows affect this feature.
