Upper C Island Camp carnage and bear
We were camped at Island camp this past weekend, which was very exciting. Yarmony flipped several rafts, a fellow lost an oar lock, and there were some cold swimmers, all of whom we were happy to help. And, of course, there is a missing fisherman. Anyone know more about that?
There was also a young, very skinny, bear pretty intent on our camp. We thought there might be a mama bear around, but didn't see her. If all campers will keep a clean camp it will help reduce the chance of human bear conflict at the heavily used Island camp site. Pack it in, pack it out (all of it). A fed bear is a dead bear. I am sure there are more cliches to describe the proper behavior, but I will spare you. Also if you were thinking of camping there with small children or dogs, keep your eyes open.
