Upper Animas Beta

So I'm thinking of hitting the Upper Animas early next week and need some beta. What's with the train support deal? (I'm definately planning on bringing my bigger boat but still don't think I can bring enough stuff to enjoy my camping experience and the prospect of doing 25 or so miles of fairly high and busy water in one day doesn't sound like the best idea to me). Do you just have somebody that's not boating meet you with the gear and camp? Is there some sort of train depot so they can get on and off with your stuff or do they just have to jump, tuck and roll? Do you just camp wherever it's dry? Does anybody know of a sweet little camp spot about 1/2 way down? Do I need to go down with somebody that knows the run or is it all just read and run? I'll be coming down from Denver so I'd appreciate as much input as I can get.

call the train group sales, they can drop your gear off at needleton and you can camp there, then you can leave it for them to take back to town.

alternatively you can pay us to handle all that for you on a guided trip (shameless self promotion). we are going out again friday saturday.
