Update on the Ashlu vs. Ledcor
This just in from TRL's Bryan Smith in Squamish:
"On a disturbing note, Ledcor has been meeting with Ministry of
Forests the past two days to get their permits for logging over 100
acres for the laydown/batch zone in the flood plain of the Ashlu.
There is a lot going on right now. The SLRD has filed a lawsuit to
get an injunction on the Ashlu project until the pending legal battle
between the regional governments and the provincial gov is sorted.
Things are really heating up. Looks like hundreds of people plan to
form a road block at mile 21 if the permits go through for logging."
Basically what this boils down to: In one corner The Fed Admin & US multinational corp's (who are moving quickly to begin pillaging), & in the other corner Local & Regional govt's & their constituencies who don't appreciate being trampled by heavy-handed, corpo-asskissin' fed policy. And the frontline of the battle is the Ashlu.
Just sayin ..
