I know the Colorado whitewater Club is vey good, but it's out of Denver. There is one out of Grand Junction called WATER, but I don't know anyting about it. Both are AWA Affiliates, but I live in Carbondale and only paddle occasionally. I am about to join AWA (used to be w/ACA years ago) and thought a local club would give both the kayaking community and me a double bang for the buck. Any recommendations? Thank you.

I'm pretty sure that the (now under new ownership) Colorado Canoe and Kayak shop in Glenwood has a paddle club that meets weekly. I'd stop in there and check it out to find folks to paddle with, I think they alternate between various class 3 stuff in the valley. Of course, you should join AW anyway because they are a GREAT organization, and they use the money to promote river access and preservation and are especially active here in Colorado in working between land owners and the legislature and the general boating community.
