Thoughts on the Diesel 80?

What are your thoughts on the diesel 80? For a couple years I paddled my old diesel 75 into the ground and I loved it. Now i've been paddling an everest for 2 years and have really liked it. Just thinking about my next boat after my everest. Any thoughts on people that have paddled it?

I've had one since 2010. It's been a great boat. If you loved your 75, I don't see why that would change. I think the biggest difference is the peaked decks that help shed water a bit better. A little more volume is always sweet, right? I've also been thinking about what my next boat and the JK Karma is at the top of that list...

Paddling the 80 for almost 2 years. I think its king! It paddles like a much smaller boat than 80 gals IMO. I load it down for self support often and for me the high end weight range is around 230lbs. That is nice because I can get 40lbs of gear in the boat and it still works well! I find the boat edges/rails a bit grabby when on boney creeks. It excels on the rivers here in Idaho. If you are going to be doing a lot of creeking you might look to some of the more rounded hulled kayaks as the rivers are stepper and favor more rounder hulls. The 80 surfs surprisingly well, spins easy, throws huge ends and blunts. But the loop still eludes me. Maybe this summer.

About me: 5'10" - 180lbs without gear. Really good swimmer.
