Hey there!

We do rent double and single ducks, and will shuttle your family up to the put-in so you can paddle the Nantahala. You can make reservations through the rafting center - 800.232.7238.

We also sell (a different brand) of ducks in the store that you can demo.

We've got a fleet of demo boats for you to try out, just to see what will work for your family. Right now we've just got single kayaks available, but over the next 6 weeks we will be getting our tandem kayak and canoe demos in. You can check out our boat demo page for which models are currently available, as well as info on what is needed to demo boats with us.

If you'd like to give our Outfitter's Store a call, they can give you more info about which boats you may want to try, as well as an update on when the demos are in for your family to give them a go. 828.488.7230.

Hope to see you on the Nanty soon!

I paddle mainly WW OC1/2 along with tripping and lakes. I would say just don't buy a WW boat. Buy something you can use all around but performs well on WW.
I would suggest looking at Clipper Canoe, just out side of Vancouver. They make the prospector and it would be right up for your alley, it handles very well on WW. It doesn't have as much rocker as a Esquif playboat, but surfs very smoothly.
