Theft at Boat Ramp in Salida

Salida has joined the rest of the world as an unsafe place to leave things laying around. For years many boats, all sorts of gear and bicycles of all kinds have been left unattended and were safe as if under lock and key surrounded by the swiss guard.

On August 2nd 2007 I left a life vest, and a one piece Mountain Surf drytop/sprayskirt on my truck to dry while friends and I went to dinner an to throw back a few cold ones. After returning to the truck two hours later the life vest and drytop/sprayskirt were gone. I left notices with CKS and checked out the gear swap to see if anyone was trying to sell this stuff. I refuse to believe a fellow kayaker would steal gear but at this point I am not sure. After checking with CKS they said others have had gear stolen from the boat ramp. I write all this because for years I have dried gear on the outside of my truck as have many of you. There is at least one thief out there, so beware of your stuff.

I am sorry someone stole your stuff. That sucks.

I learned my lesson to lock my stuff up back in 1983 when someone stole my front tire off my pk ripper bmx bike at my local elementary school. I've been locking my stuff up every since wherever I go.

You can't trust people to have the same morals that you yourself have. Sad thing in life.
