I know it can snow then, I've been on the south rim in April during snow, but what are 'typical' Jan. temps.
Gotta decide very soon, any beta on the winter Grand experience appreciated.
I just got off a 21 day Canyon trip on Sunday. We saw about 5 trips in 3 weeks, no motors, no competition for camps, every side hike to ourselves. It's hard to imagine waiting in line to hike Havasu during commercial season. Winter in the Canyon is a rare treat, the water is cold but that's true all year. We still swam in the LC, Havasu, Deer Creek and Nankoweep.
I'd go again at the drop of a hat. Enjoy the winter sky. Make sure you have lots of light as night comes very quick, plenty of firewood.
